Piedmont Offshore Sportfishing Club (POSC) was incorporated 31 years ago by a small group of men with a love of sportfishing in the ocean waters of North and South Carolina. Today, we still meet in Greensboro each month but have grown in number to a much larger club with the same passion for sportfishing in our coastal waters.
Our club spirit is built of friendships spanning many years; the camaraderie at our monthly meetings and the sharing of information and fishing stories is the foundation of our club’s strength. Our membership is a mixture of some with boats and some without (the smart ones) who crew for the boat owners.
Our club is recognized as a leader in promoting the health of our fisheries. Over the years, we have contributed approximately $170,000.00 to various conservation projects and are very proud of this being a part of our heritage. A recent example was The Billfish Foundation White Marlin Tagging Program. POSC lead the way as a Platinum Donor by sponsoring five PSAT tags. We also assisted the Billfish Foundation by furnishing boats, crews and lodging for the Foundations Scientist for the tagging of White Marlin off our Outer Banks coast. This is one of many programs POSC supports. POSC also annually supports the Barta Boys and Girls Club Billfish Tournament and initiated the donation of the bus the Boys and Girls Club now has for transportation.
POSC is also held in high regard by many legendary Charter Boat Captains along our Carolina coast. Many have served as our monthly speakers and have expressed they feel it an honor to be invited by our club to speak. How privileged we are to have such a strong reputation with the very Charter Boat Captains we admire and envy. We have earned our reputation by our actions within the industry, our actions on the water, and by returning to the dock with respectable catches.
